I love this image! Kwannon, or Quan Yin, is a goddess I regard highly in my spiritual beliefs, and your portrayal of her is simply glorious and very heavenly to look upon. To me, she is the Goddess of Mercy, but she has also a certain warrior goddess aspect too and your painting captures that to a strong extent with the symbolic red sash around the goddess's wasit. The red and white are also symbols of the Shrine Maidens of Shinto, and many Shrine Maidens in Japan also are Buddhists and revere Kwannon very much. So I like that your image here reminds me of that as well! This is a lot like certain Hindu devotional paintings (I used to paint ones like that for a family I knew from India years ago who I was friends with)... and I like that aspect of this image also. Great work, gorgeous subject matter, and great result!
Thanks my Girlfriend likes her very much too for similar reasons. The red and white was more a style choice, forgot that the shrine maidens were those colours, but maybe it was in my mind subconsciously. I had a look at quite a few Hindu devotional paintings while working on this too. Glad it came out good enough to convey her to someone who is familiar with her
